Despite severe flooding of its Boyd Mill Farm location in Franklin, the BlackBerry Jam Music Festival (theblackberryjam.com) will proceed as planned and organizers are more determined than ever to make the 2010 festival the best in the event’s seven-year history.

The festival’s new sponsor, NationLink Wireless, brings the one-day acoustic music festival and family event to Franklin this Saturday, June 19 from 3 to 10 p.m., with scheduled acts throughout the day. Tickets are $10 for adults, and kids 12 and under are FREE.

"Our smart-phone support team is known to area businesses as ‘The BlackBerry Guys’," says NationLink Wireless president Andy Bailey. "How could we resist aligning ourselves with The Blackberry Jam? Like many others in the Middle Tennessee business community, my team is more than willing to step up to the plate for worthy causes. It’s even more exciting when we can have a little fun with it."

The Blackberry Jam, held on the Boyd Mill Farm of Carol Warren and Dale Whitehead, brings together musicians from several states and countries with a focus on homegrown talent from Middle Tennessee.

Festival goers will find a feast of events, from music all the way from bluegrass to blues, to the new Blackberry Book Fair (starting at 2 p.m.), featuring authors from the Williamson County area showcasing and

talking about their works, to the Shuff’s Music (shuffsmusic.com) Musical Petting Zoo, where kids can get up close and personal with their favorite acoustic instruments. (Watch out for the horns, kids!)

This year’s musical lineup is as strong as ever and includes headliners The Wanna Beatles (theblackberryjam.com/wannabeatles), poised to create their own bit of Beatlemania right here in Williamson County. The WannaBeatles consists of Grammy Award-winning and multi-talented music producers, arrangers, studio players and singers who have Come Together to play the music they grew up with. Ever since their first "all Beatles" gig together, it was love at first note.

Also joining the cast of performers are the incomparable Carter Brothers (theblackberryjam.com/the-carter-brothers). Formerly with Capitol Records, and real-life, long-removed relatives of the famous country music dynasty the Carter Family, North Carolina natives Tim and Danny Carter have been performing their own unique Appalachian folk-rock/funked-up bluegrass/gypsy blues for decades.

Other amazing acoustic acts on the bill (theblackberryjam.com/lineup/) include Trina Hamlin, Carol and Dale, Tray Eppes, Paddy Dougherty, Kevin McKendree, Nancy Moran and Fett, and the invariable surprise guest or two who will show up to inject more sweetness into the Jam.

Previous headliners at the Blackberry Jam have included Colin Linden, Michael McDonald, Carters Chord and Canadas Blackie and the Rodeo Kings.

It is all about the music, with 2010 proceeds going to help the Boys and Girls Clubs of Franklin and Fairview (bgcfwc.org), Hard Bargain/Mt. Hope Redevelopment (hardbargain.org), and Living Waters for the World (livingwatersfortheworld.org).

Tickets are on sale at blackberry.eventbrite.com, and online at blackberry.eventbrite.com, or on site the day of the festival. For more information, call 615.525.5303 or visit The Blackberry Jam Music Festival (theblackberryjam.com) website.
