The unprecedented rainfall and flooding of May 1-2 caused significant damage throughout the Metro Parks and Greenways system. Some of the locations with major impacts include community centers and other facilities, athletic fields, golf courses, greenways and all types of trails, roads and parking lots, and natural areas.

• Bellevue Community Center, Coleman Regional Center, East Park Regional Center, Hadley Regional Center, and Hermitage Community Center have served as Disaster Information Centers in the response to the crisis. Metro Parks staff, vehicles, and assets were actively involved in the community’s response.
• One of the debris collection sites that have been set up is located at the Edwin Warner Parks Sports and Special Events Area on Vaughn Road. The collection site may be in operation for two months. When the site is closed, the area will be restored to its original, pristine condition.
• Major impacts to the Warner Parks include mudslides, many downed trees, damage to roads, trails, footbridges, parking lots, and historic stonework, and flooding of the reservable picnic areas.
• Assessments, documentation, and cost estimates for recovery are in progress.
• For your safety, refrain from entering areas that are closed, appear to be unstable, or show signs of public risk.
After damage assessments are compiled notices will be sent out about volunteer opportunities and other ways to work together on the recovery of our beloved local parks.
